Three Reasons to Opt for Natural Bug Control
When your day is ruined by stumbling upon an infestation in your home, the first thing you should be doing is calling an exterminator. But first, consider the residual damage the pesticides used by most exterminators can also cause.
In recent years, forms of natural bug control have become a popular option to rid homes of bugs by removing most of the risks of insecticides. So what repercussions can natural pest solutions eliminate?
- Close contact: These bugs are unfortunately mainly found in home areas. For example, the top three places where pest professionals report finding bed bugs are around 95% in apartments or condominiums, 93% in single-family homes, and 75% in hotels or motels. According to past surveys, these have long been the most common locations to encounter bed bugs. Especially in the case of bed bugs, you may be coming in direct contact with surfaces where insecticides were used. Now the harmful chemicals are on your skin and may even contaminate food
- Pets: We all know how much cats and dogs love to groom themselves. But the last thing you want is for them to be licking pesticides off of their fur. Even just walking across a floor where these chemicals were used could lead to their paws being covered with them. Natural bug control solutions consist of nonhazardous chemicals that, while are not advised to be consumed, are much safe than other pest controls.
- Further damage: All infestations can cause damage, but termites are notorious for damaging wood and compromising a home’s structural integrity. Unfortunately, the chemicals in some standard pesticides can actually further degrade the wood. Now you’re not only dealing with the costs of a rodent exterminator, but even more to repair the extra damage.
Some may assume that because it is called “natural bug control,” that it is not as powerful as others. But consider that cockroaches are able to survive without a head for a week — only because they need a mouth to drink — and even a month without food. If natural pest control can stop these guys, they can pretty much stop any insect.
